Mechanical Design Engineer

We are a startup based in Reggio Emilia, Italy that creates disruptive products by combining Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. We are looking for talented innovators in mechatronicelectronic and software to lead the next-gen of food appliances.

  • The role
  • You will take ownership for the detailed design and implementation of parts and sub-assemblies that are reliable, safe, cost effective, easy to manufacture and assemble within the restrictions imposed by project requirements, costs and planning in our R&D department.

  • Job description
    • Create 3D modeling and detailed drawing of parts and assemblies with Solidworks

    • Create and maintain Bill Of Materials

    • Perform calculation, including FEM analysis (stress, thermal, fluid, kinematic and tolerance analysis) and create related documentation

    • Create physical prototypes by means of 3D-printing, handcrafting or other manufacturing techniques

    • Interface with suppliers for the identification of standard components, within the procurement strategies of the Company, as well as for manufacturing of custom designed parts

    • Collaborate with the PCB Layout Designer for the integration in the mechanical structure

    • Perform quality assessment of the manufactured parts (check that produced parts/components are according to specifications)

    • Execute functional tests on the prototypes and create written reports

    • Collaborate to the integration tests execution with electronic/electrical engineer

    • Troubleshoot issues and root cause analysis related to parts / assemblies of your responsibility

    • Collaborate with project team in the creation of planning and work review according to agile methodology.

  • Qualifications needed
    • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Proficient knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
    • Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques (e.g. plastics injection molding, sheet metal, steel welding)
    • Experience in the design of complex assemblies, with moving parts and cables management
    • Experience in consumer-product development is considered a plus
    • Good knowledge and experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis
    • Good knowledge of laboratory instruments and 3D printing/prototyping techniques
    • Experience in 3D modeling, detailed drawing, and FEM analysis with Solidworks
    • Experience in BOM management
    • Medium/advanced in English.
